Week 3: At a Glance



During Week 3, you learn how to use tools to help you administer your databases; back up and recover data; and export, import, load, and replicate data. You also learn how to ensure that you are getting the best performance from your system, and diagnose problems that you may encounter. Here's a day-by-day summary of Week 3:


  • Day 15, "Using System Administration Tools"

    This lesson introduces tools such as the Task Center and Journal.

  • Day 16, "Recovery Concepts"

    This lesson teaches the very important topic of producing a backup-and-recovery plan for your data.

  • Day 17, "Moving Data"

    During this lesson you learn how to export data from a DB2 table, and import and load data into a DB2 table.

  • Day 18, "Replicating Data"

    The topic of replicating data from one table to another is covered in this lesson.

  • Day 19, "Database Monitoring Tools"

    Performance aids such as Visual Explain, Snapshot Monitor, and Event Monitor are introduced. You learn how you can use these aids to explore the performance of your databases and applications.

  • Day 20, "Tuning DB2 Universal Database Performance"

    During this lesson you learn how to customize configuration parameters to ensure your system is finely tuned for your specific needs.

  • Day 21, "Diagnosing Problems"

    This lesson gives you guidance on solving problems that you may encounter.
